Run for a Cause: Join Team True North at the 2026 Marine Corps Marathon
by Leslie Parsons
Annual Marine Corps Marathon, Washington DC
The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) has earned a reputation as one of the most iconic races in the country. Known as “The People’s Marathon,” it welcomes runners of all experience levels to a course celebrated for its supportive atmosphere, scenic route through Washington, D.C., and status as an official Boston Marathon qualifier.
This year, runners have an opportunity to make every mile count.
In celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States, the True North Foundation is one of this year’s charity sponsors for the MCM. We are excited to invite racers to raise funds and awareness for veteran causes by participating in our MCM bib program. By joining Team True North Foundation, participants can secure guaranteed entry into one of the nation’s most sought-after races while helping support organizations that are making a real difference in the lives of veterans and their families.
The 2026 Marine Corps Marathon will take place on October 25 in Washington, D.C. With race entries selling out quickly every year—and last year’s marathon selling out completely—this program offers runners a chance to lock in their spot before registration closes.
Team True North Foundation bibs are available for $250, and participants are asked to commit to raising at least $500 in donations. Every dollar raised helps support critical programs serving veterans, military families, and caregivers across the country.
Participants also receive several exclusive benefits beyond guaranteed race entry.
Runners will be invited to a special Team True North Foundation meet-up hosted at Dog Tag Bakery, where they can connect with fellow racers, meet representatives from True North Foundation, and learn more about our nonprofit partners. It’s an opportunity to build community, share training experiences, and see firsthand how fundraising efforts create meaningful impact.
In addition, participants can choose where their fundraising dollars go by directing their donations to one of True North Foundation’s nonprofit partners, including Dog Tag, Stay In Step, the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, or Merging Vets & Players (MVP). This allows runners to support a cause that resonates personally with them while contributing to the broader mission of serving the veteran community.
For those taking on their first marathon, we’ve got you covered. Every Team True North participant will receive a four-month marathon training plan developed in collaboration with adaptive athlete Luke Kittel. Designed specifically for runners who are new to marathon training, the program provides a structured, approachable path to race day success. We are also hosting a aprivate Facebook group where racers can share tips and insights and build team camaraderie.
Whether you’re chasing a personal record, qualifying for Boston, running your first marathon, or simply looking for a way to give back, Team True North Foundation offers a unique opportunity to combine fitness, community, and purpose.
But don’t wait too long. Bibs are only available through July 31, and demand for Marine Corps Marathon entries remains exceptionally high.
Join Team True North, secure your spot on the starting line, and help support the organizations that serve those who have served our country.
